Type Book

The type specimen book was created in my type studio class back in spring 2019, one of my first graphic design projects. I wanted to keep things simple and minimalistic. I picked a simple color palette along with our choosing of a graphic designer to base the books appearance off of.

The designer I choose was Jan Tschichold, his style played a significant role in the development of graphic design in the 20th century. He was known for promoting principles of typographic modernism and idealizing conservative typographic structures. The main goal for choosing the minimalistic route is just the pure factor that less is more.

I made this book back when I was still fresh into the Graphis Arts academy, so I wanted to broaden my ability to make lots from nothing. Overall, the book hits minimalistic areas well by explaining one of the most iconic type faces while keeping true to the term “Less is more”.
